Ye Jilin, an experienced craftsman in Songchuan, has dedicated over fifty years to weaving palm leaves and cotton. Despite the evolving economic landscape and changing traditions, Jilin remains unwavering in his commitment to his craft. Opening a shop on the old street in the city about thirty years ago, he continues to produce straw raincoats in spring and summer and cotton-padded garments in autumn and winter, adapting to the seasonal demands. In an era of rapid change, Jilin's persistence in maintaining his traditional craft reflects both the challenges faced by traditional artisans and the resilience of their skills. Even as his son has established his own family and career, there is hope that the craft may endure through future generations.
